Darman, his daughter Ida, and Slamet the servant, go into the woods to hunt. Ida was lost when Darman and Slamet are chasing a tiger. Ida ends up in Tarsan's hut. They become close though at first, Tarsan has problems speaking the Indonesian language. Then he agrees to go to the city and learn how to be an urbanite. It is not easy as he is even harassed by Ida’s friends who do not like him.

After the graduation from “Sekolah Kepandaian Putri” (Female-Skill School) or SKP, Lena works as a housemaid for Toto’s family as she cannot afford to continue her education. When she returns from “tetirah” (a Javanese term for a short vacation in a health resort), Mrs. Toto is agitated by the presence of the new housemaid from SKP. Toto calms her down by making up a story that Lena is actually the fiancée of Pardan. But the pretence becomes real love and Pardan and Lena finally get married.

Through Poppy and her boyfriend, Hasan, Elina meets Abdullah and becomes his lover. Then Elina starts to lead a wayward life. Her older sister, Tuty, tries to stop her but Elina chooses to continue her relationship and gets married. Then Tuty's warning comes true, as Abdullah is irresponsible. After Elina gets a divorce, she tries to find Tuty again but fails. But in the end, the two siblings manage to reunite.

A love triangle ensues and is further complicated when Paimo, Johny’s servant, also takes a liking to Sumiati. When Paimo tries to seduce her, Johny becomes angry and kills him but his ghost returns.
