Thomas Vincent Savini (born November 3, 1946, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA) is an American special effects artist, makeup artist, director, and actor.

Savini developed an interest in makeup from a young age, inspired by the biographical film Man of a Thousand Faces (1957) about Lon Chaney. While other boys played football, he spent hours in front of the mirror applying makeup. From 1969 to 1970, he served as a military photographer in Vietnam.

Known for his realistic special effects, which contributed to the commercial success of many films, Savini earned the nickname "The God of Gore." He received a Saturn Award nomination for Best Makeup for Dawn of the Dead (1980) and won the same award for Day of the Dead (1986). In 2003, he was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the New York City Horror Film Festival.

Though the role of a special effects master typically doesn't require on-screen appearances, Savini gained wide recognition for his role as Sex Machine in Robert Rodriguez's From Dusk Till Dawn. There were rumors about his alleged sadistic tendencies.

Savini also appeared as assassin Osiris Amanpour in Rodriguez's Machete (2010) and its sequel, Machete Kills.
