Bobby Connolly
1897 - 1944Connolly received four Academy Awards nominations, all in the category of Best Dance Direction, for his work on the films Go Into Your Dance (1935), Broadway Hostess (1935), Cain and Mabel (1936), and Ready, Willing and Able (1937).
Other film credits include dance director for The Wizard of Oz (1939) and For Me and My Gal (1942).

This Vitaphone musical featurette features a minstrel show, with traditional interlocutor and Mr. Bones, doing many old time songs (mostly Stephen Foster) with Al Jolson and Eddie Cantor in blackface, via stock footage from earlier Warners films, inserted doing some of their trademark songs. This short was reissued November of 1946 and again in September of 1953.

This short shows the entrances of the various Hollywood studios, then specifically visits Warner Bros. / First National Studios. We start at the casting office, then see Busby Berkeley and choreographer Bobby Connolly working with chorus girls on production numbers. Then come some candid shots of several contract stars. Finally we see comedian Hugh Herbert filming a scene for an upcoming release, then the various behind the scenes steps that transition the raw film in the camera into the finished product.

Choreographer Bob Connolly and prolific screenwriter Crane Wilbur teamed up on the direction of Warner Bros.' The Patient in Room 18. Patric Knowles delivers a delightfully comic performance as Lance, an outwardly normal young man obsessed with detective stories. When his obsession threatens to lapse over into lunacy, Lance is sent to the hospital for a nice long rest. It isn't long before he gets mixed up in a genuine murder mystery, using his second-hand knowhow to solve the case. Up-and-coming Ann Sheridan is quite amusing as Lance's nurse and confidante, while the murderer is played by a fellow who is usually cast as the murder victim.

Unknown to her, her step brother, Hub, is part of the gang.
