From 1999 to 2001, she attended the Montpellier Conservatory of Dramatic Art and continued her training at the Pygmalion Studio. After returning to Paris at 21, she took on small roles and joined the Damien Acoca Workshop to further her skills. Julie refined her craft using the Meisner method under Scott Williams between 2010 and 2011.

Her younger sister, Olivia de Bona, born in 1985, graduated in Applied Arts and Animation Cinema and works as an illustrator. Very private about her personal life, Julie announced the birth of her first child on Instagram on August 13, 2018, without revealing the father's identity.
