New Japan Pro Wrestling will be making its return to Ryogoku Sumo Hall on April 4th, 2021 for Sakura Genesis, an event that was once an annual fixture of the New Japan calendar. Due to both their trip to the US in 2019 and the Coronavirus Pandemic in 2020, this will be the first time in three years that this event will take place. As the beloved cherry blossoms fall at roughly 5 centimeters per second outside of the Sumo Hall, inside of it will be one of the most controversial shows in New Japan’s history as the first-ever IWGP World Heavyweight Championship defense will take place in the main event as Will Ospreay challenges Kota Ibushi.

Wrestle Kingdom 11 in Tokyo Dome was a professional wrestling event promoted by New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW). The event took place on January 4, 2017, at the Tokyo Dome in Tokyo, Japan. It was the 26th January 4 Tokyo Dome Show. The show was main evented by Kazuchika Okada defending the IWGP Heavyweight Championship against Kenny Omega. Other featured matches saw Tetsuya Naito defend the IWGP Intercontinental Championship against Hiroshi Tanahashi, Katsuyori Shibata defend the NEVER Openweight Championship against Hirooki Goto and Kushida defend the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion against Hiromu Takahashi. As part of a partnership between NJPW and the American Ring of Honor (ROH) promotion, the ROH World Championship was also defended at the event with Adam Cole taking on Kyle O'Reilly. All in all, the event featured eleven matches (one on the pre-show), eight of which were contested for championships.

In the ECW World Television Title Tournament semi finals, Rhino battles The Sandman and Super Crazy goes one on one with Little Guido, with the winners fighting in the finals later in the night. The Impact Players, Raven and Mike Awesome, and Tommy Dreamer and Masato Tanaka Tanaka battle in a 3 Way Dance for the Tag Team Championship. Wrestle Kingdom in Tokyo Dome (レッスルキングダム in 東京ドーム, Ressuru Kingudamu in Tōkyō Dōmu) (sequentially known as Wrestle Kingdom I) was a professional wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) event co-produced by the New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW) and All Japan Pro Wrestling (AJPW) promotions, which took place at the Tokyo Dome in Tokyo, Japan on January 4, 2007. It was the 16th January 4 Tokyo Dome Show and the first held under the new "Wrestle Kingdom" name. The show marked the 35th anniversary celebration for NJPW, who teamed up with one-time rival promotion AJPW to produce the show. Headlined by two title matches, contested for NJPW's top title, the IWGP Heavyweight Championship, and AJPW's top title, the Triple Crown Heavyweight Championship, as well as the reunion of Keiji Mutoh and Masahiro Chono, all in all, the event featured nine matches.
