The whole life of man is but a point in time. HALF MAN, HALF GHOST is the latest exploration by Davi Pretto after his first feature-film CASTANHA. Pretto shows us an old man’s slow disappearing process, in a far and remote area in the south of Brazil. A man that represents an old style of men that inhabited this region, but no longer exists. Somewhere between an ethnographic documentary and a fantasy, a journey into darkness and oblivion.

Joao is a 50 year old actor who lives with his 72 year old mother, Celina. He spends his time between his work at night as a crossdresser in small gay bars and his parts in small plays, movies and TV shows. Tormented and haunted by ghosts from his past, day after day Joao starts to merge the reality in which he lived with the fiction he is interpreting.
