Jason Kim, born Kim Ju-hwan in 1981, is a South Korean director and screenwriter. He studied international politics at Georgetown University before serving as an interpreter in the Republic of Korea Air Force for three years. Afterward, he joined Showbox, working in promotions and later in film investment. While at Showbox, Kim pursued his passion for filmmaking, creating the youth dramas Goodbye My Smile (2010) and Koala (2013) during his free time. He eventually left his job to focus fully on filmmaking, spending three years developing the script for his debut commercial film Midnight Runners (2017), which became a domestic and international success.
