The story of this film revolves around two politicians from the same village. One of them is an elected MLA from Village constituency Narayan Wagh (Makarand Anaspure) and the other being his opponent Vishwasrao Tope(Sayaji Shinde), who has lost the election to Mr. Wagh by a narrow margin. But, Vishwasrao manages to get this nomination as MLC. So, to prove their supremacy, they indulge themselves in dirty politics, so as to turn the tables on each other. And, this clearly goes on to show how murky the politics is at the village level.

Kolsewadi has never seen any progress in the village, thanks to the bickering and fights between MLA Chandrakant Tope and Sarpanch Bajirao Dole. Narayan Wagh, a villager, makes the most of this to his advantage. He manages to coax the villagers and enters the electoral fray to fight the upcoming village elections. He gets help in the way of Rebecca who has come from America to study Maharashtra Folk Art and Dance. He convinces her to study the Lauvni and perform for him at his political rally.

Industrialization has reached each and every small village in India and the villages here are bearing the brunt of urbanisation in their own way. This is the story of a family residing in one such village. The family comprises an elder brother Vithal, a farmer by profession, younger brother Anand, a student, and the middle one Yeshwant, a vagabond, who left his education midway. He would squander his time by standing at the local paan shop, and as expected, he volunteers for the local political party. Ambadas would often use such people to enhance his political status, challenges Appa, a senior political leader and uses Yeshwant as his scapegoat. Caught in a whirlpool of lies, deceit and betrayal, Yeshwant and his family are on the run. But without surrendering to the cruel and ruthless circumstances, they manage to stare in the face of danger with courage and valour.

Ganya is naive, innocent, and a staunch devotee of Lord Vithal, much to the resentment of his mother and his wife RATNA. Caught in the web of life, Ganya pleads to Lord Vithala for a solution to all his problems and surprisingly the Lord replies back. The elated Ganya goes around telling the whole village that the Lord has spoken to him. Everyone assumes that Ganya has lost his sanity, except the village money lender who asserts Ganya's claim, and in the bargain usurps all his ancestral land. Unable to bear the constant rebuking by his family he attempts to commit suicide, but he is saved by a herdsman who incidentally is also a devotee of Lord Vithala. He consoles Ganya and gives him some money to go to Bombay. Amidst a lot of hardships in Bombay, help arrives in the form of BAPU a "vada" vendor. Armed with the prize money of Rs.5 lacs that he won in a singing competition, he returns back to the village to stumble upon a shocking revelation.
