В этом пропагандистском фильме первых лет социалистических преобразований в Венгрии рассказывается о кулацком саботаже в производственных кооперативах. Зажиточный крестьянин Игнац Хато, один из лучших фермеров в деревне, вступает в кооператив «Два октября», и вскоре все мелкие крестьяне следуют за ним. Сельские богачи, возглавляемые Лили Сохар, наблюдая за большим расширением кооператива, пытаются рассорить кооператоров друг с другом. Попытка Сохары даёт свои плоды, и Хато покидает кооператив. Далее Лили Сохар пытается убедить Игнаца Хато в том, что она планирует создать конкурирующую команду новых богачей и призывает его примкнуть к ней. Игнац отказывается и не поддаётся шантажу. Любовник Лили, бывший жандарм, стреляет в партийного секретаря Божине. У послели раненого Божине, Игнац признаёт свою ошибку и просит принять его вновь в кооператив. Шандор, председатель кооператива, понимает, что коллектив не должен препятствовать вступлению тем, кто хочет честно работать.

In a small town in the countryside, the election of the president of the restaurant trade association is under way. The two rivals, Dénes Kövi, owner of the elegant Korona restaurant, and Antal Bálint, owner of the staid Makkhetes restaurant, are putting all their eggs in the basket for the title. Taking advantage of this situation, Pál Balázs, who has become the manager of his crippled painter friend, has a portrait commissioned with Dénes Kövi.

Based on the Hungarian writer Ferenc Herczeg's novel written in 1894, this film takes the viewers to the past of Hungary. Professor Sergius (Elemér Baló) insists that he invented a machine that can fly faster than the speed of earth's rotation and this enables him (or anyone who travels with him) to fly back with it to the past; that is to travel in time. To prove this the professor promises the hand of his daughter Rózsi (Katalin Karády) and all his possessions to the one who is willing to try the 'space travel' with him in his machine. The romantic and adventurous Hungarian count Ákos Tibor (László Szilassy) finally accepts the challenge. For the count's luck before the time travel he attends a costume ball dressed as a Hungarian hussar. Because when they arrive in the past, people think that he is a far relative of the wealthy landlord whose field they landed. This is how the strange adventures begins for our 20th century hero in the world of the 18th century Austro-Hungary.
