Нина, молодая вдова и мама двух малолетних детей устраивается «домоправительницей» загородного дома к Анне, энергичной бизнесвумен. Сын Анны, Игорь, по виду типичный представитель «золотой» столичной молодёжи, совершает поступок – идет в военкомат с просьбой призвать его. Чтобы уберечь его от службы в армии, Анна вынуждает сына заключить фиктивный брак с Ниной: женатый мужчина с двумя детьми призыву не подлежит. Нина бескорыстно соглашается помочь Анне, которую уважает. «Молодожёны» ненавидят друг друга, и однажды пьяный Игорь, не помня себя, поднимает руку на Нину. Он в ужасе от своего поступка, пытается заслужить прощение Нины. Анна, увидев, что между ними что-то происходит, предлагает Нине за дополнительную плату… уступить ухаживаниям сына. Анна надеется, что это привяжет сына к дому, хотя бы временно. Нину поражает ее цинизм. Она хочет уехать, но один из сыновей оказывается прикованным к постели. Игорь помогает Нине ухаживать за ним и постепенно влюбляется в нее…
