Mamoudou Athie, born in 1988 in Mauritania, is an American actor known for his roles in theater, film, and television. After moving to the U.S. as an infant when his diplomat father received political asylum, Athie grew up in New Carrollton, Maryland. He studied acting at the William Esper Studio and earned an MFA from the Yale School of Drama in 2014.

Athie began his career in theater, starring Off-Broadway in The Mystery of Love and Sex (2015). He later appeared in films like Patti Cake$ (2017), The Circle (2017), Jurassic World Dominion (2022), The Burial (2023), and voiced Wade Ripple in Pixar's Elemental (2023). On television, he starred in The Get Down (2016–2017), Sorry for Your Loss (2018–2019), and led the Netflix horror series Archive 81 (2022). In 2020, Athie had his first lead film roles in Uncorked and Black Box. He was also nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for his role in the anthology series Cake (2019).
