Virginia Elizabeth "Geena" Davis (born January 21, 1956) is an acclaimed American actress and activist, known for her roles in films like Tootsie (1982), The Fly (1986), Beetlejuice (1988), and Thelma & Louise (1991), which earned her an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress. She also starred in A League of Their Own (1992) and received a Golden Globe Award for her role in the series Commander in Chief (2005–2006).

Davis, who was born in Wareham, Massachusetts, developed an interest in music early on, playing piano and flute. She attended Boston University to study drama but did not graduate. She began her career as a model before transitioning to acting.

Throughout her life, Davis has been married multiple times, including to actors Richard Emmolo, Jeff Goldblum, and Renny Harlin. She has three children with her ex-husband Reza Jarrahy.

In addition to her acting career, Davis founded the Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media in 2004 to promote female representation in media. Her work has earned her numerous awards, including the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award in 2019.
