
Nidal Al-Dibs
1960 (66 лет)Nidal Al Dibs was born in 1960 in Syria, and studied directing at Moscow’s VIGIK film school from 1988-94, where his graduation film was Collage (1994). He began working on Syrian films as an assistant director in 1996 and made his professional directing debut with the short film Ya Leil Ya Ein (1999). Under the Ceiling is his first feature film.

This film illustrates the lives of children growing up in the area of Hajar al-Aswad (Black Stone), a poor district of Damascus. The four children in the film collect metal scraps to sell in order to help sustain their families economically, yet their wanderings give them the ability to explore and dream.
