A robbery planned by two Arabs. A player, a waiter and an alcoholic woman find themselves racing against time, dealing with daily routine and everything around it. With no room to breathe, the tension keeps rising ,as their stories unfold it brings them closer and they get acquainted. Karim, the young Arab boy who commits the robbery out of sheer hardship, is befriended by Gianni who is a great support and makes him feel less lonely. Irene, the alcoholic woman is convinced that Gianni is the son her husband took away from her years ago. Last but not least is Betty, the young transexual who lets herself get dragged into the underworld, all in the name of love.

Pasquale Marrazzo directs this understated, gritty look at a trio of young people struggling to make their own lives in the face of terrible odds. Giovanni is a young man from a poor family, eking out a living as a gas station attendant. His twin brother Moreno has Down's syndrome and lives in an institution. Giovanni's girlfriend Betty lives with her dissolute mother and her mom's thuggish, lecherous boyfriend. When he learns that the institution put his brother up for adoption, Giovanni is indignant, vowing to bring him under his family's care. More than willing to escape her mother and the casual pawings of her lover, Betty moves with Giovanni. Giovanni's single-minded struggle to claim legal guardianship over Moreno suddenly gives the two a direction in life and soon a family of sorts forms.

After his ex-wife Addolorata's death, Giuseppe called "Cicci", a fifty years old manager, has to custody his son and doughter Matteo and Sara. Cicci has a long time relation with his partner Nikolas, a sincere and smart plumber. Cicci has three sisters Giuditta, Silvana and Norina: they grow him up as a son and they will put him in a very severe test on the way and how he has to grow up his childrens. The three women move to Cicci and Nikolas' house dictating their religious morals about the traditional family, inspired by don Paolo's words, a priest.
