The film takes place during the nostalgic era before cell phones appeared in Japan. Elemi, a lamppost, becomes infatuated with an electrician, Mr. Takahashi. Posing as human, she decides to call him. But this type of contact is prohibited by the law of the lampposts. Then, rumors spread throughout the city and Elemi is summoned to testify before the Court of light poles.
