A journey of 42 days aboard a cargo container carrier, CMA-CGM Fort Ste Marie results in a filmic diary which is written between the departure and the return to Havre, the flow of days 's linked. In the continuity of the route, the infinite horizon of the Atlantic, stops in Central America and in major ports of the northern range, commercial operations - loading and unloading of containers, life on board ... are visual material and sound of the film.

Pas à pas
Christophe Guérin
"Pas à pas" is a diptych made from two films shot in Super 8 during walks in the Pays de Caux (Haute-Normandie). The title refers to both the transport mode and shooting mode during this process, which are closely associated. The landscape of "Pas à pas" is not built from a point of view, but from two perspective lines projected on the screen ; two images that encounter creates a new direction.

L'échec total
Christophe Guérin
I found several Super 8 reels of the same family of which I have isolated the plans of the woman, filmed by her husband. It's a little picture of marital bliss. Then I thought about my mother who raised her two children : she could be that other woman that we hear the testimony of a solitude without hope : "I did not see life like that, I saw it as in a dream. "

Le Havre : port
Christophe Guérin
The lens of the camera captures the port of Le Havre during a chaotic way, a trip whose rhythm is given by the process of shooting, frame by frame. The film edited directly into the camera then takes the form of a travelling front, subject to a continuous jump-cut which imposes its frantic pace. Docks, quays, warehouses, cranes, tractors, container architecture and men at work, present and future ruins parade such fleeting impressions.

Remake

"Remake" is made from a Super 8 film shot in the 80’s. The fragments are edited by superimposing the different takings of the same scenes. The image produced is strange because we are facing an impossible : the simultaneous presence of several states that could be. Sequences so reconstituted string together as all stages of a confused and desperate love life. This sentimental and visual disorder is combined with the overlay of sound samples : inner music and movies dialogues.

Las Vegas Shadows
Christophe Guérin
Las Vegas : a fast-growing junkspace spreads in the desert, populated by moving shadows. The urban frame and the crowd are condensed into one dimension to form an abstract image of the city, disembodied and melancholic. In a continuous movement that seems endless, the landscape is written.

Vendetta
Christophe Guérin
In "Vendetta", the screening accident - the frame trapped in the window as fugitive In the searchlight beam, burning under the heat lamp - becomes a writing principle. Burned frames , supposed to remain subliminal, succeed in the flow of scrolling : Fire consumes the screen.

Black Maria
Christophe Guérin
The film was shot on the heights of Le Havre, in the gardens of the Abbey of Graville where is a monumental Virgin and Child, known as the Vierge Noire. When I was a child, the imposing statue inspired me a certain fear when I walked through the gardens to reach the Star, the local cinema. It may be this strange relationship between the Vierge Noire and my movie memories which led me to compose the soundtrack from an extract of Alfred Hitchcock's Spellbound. This is the sequence when Dr. Edwardes (Gregory Peck) tells his dream : " I can not make up just what sort of a site it was..." It is this atmosphere full of disquiet and mystery that I wanted to give to my film.
