Jenny Slate (born March 25, 1982) is an American actress, comedian, and writer. She gained recognition for her variety shows in New York City and co-creating the children's series Marcel the Shell with Shoes On (2010–present). Slate became widely known as a cast member on Saturday Night Live (2009–2010) and for her roles in Bob's Burgers (2012–present), Parks and Recreation (2013–2015), House of Lies (2013–2015), and Kroll Show (2013–2015).

Her breakout came with the film Obvious Child (2014), earning her the Critics' Choice Movie Award for Best Actress in a Comedy. Slate has also voiced characters in animated films like The Lorax (2012), Zootopia (2016), and The Secret Life of Pets (2016–2019). She ventured into drama with Gifted (2017) and appeared in the acclaimed sci-fi film Everything Everywhere All at Once, winning a Screen Actors Guild Award.

Slate, who is Jewish, voiced Missy in the Netflix series Big Mouth until 2020 when she stepped down, believing the biracial character should be played by a Black actress. She continues to voice other characters on the show.

Born in Massachusetts, Slate is the middle of three sisters. Her father, Ron Slate, is a businessman and poet, and her mother, Nancy, is a housewife and potter. After graduating as valedictorian from Milton Academy, she attended Columbia University, majoring in literature and forming the improv group Fruit Paunch. Slate graduated in 2004.

Slate married filmmaker Dean Fleischer-Camp in 2012, collaborating on Marcel the Shell with Shoes On. They separated in 2016, and Slate later dated actor Chris Evans briefly. In 2019, she got engaged to art curator Ben Shattuck, and they married on New Year's Eve 2021 after three postponed weddings due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The couple has a daughter, born in February 2021.
