Smile became the highest-grossing original horror film of 2022. In 2023, Finn signed a multi-year first-look deal with Paramount Pictures to write, produce, and direct more films. He also founded the production company Bad Feeling that same year and returned to create Smile 2, released in 2024. Additionally, in June 2024, it was announced that he would write and direct a remake of Possession.

After a shocking confrontation with her mother, who appears to harm herself, Skye escapes a wellness retreat and attempts a desperate plan to break the curse with the help of a former nurse named Morris. However, she discovers that the entity has been manipulating her perceptions. Ultimately, during her concert's opening night, Skye becomes possessed by the entity, leading to a horrifying act that transfers the curse to the audience.
