The last raider delivers Furiosa to Dementus, but she mortally wounds him before he can reveal the Green Place's location. Mary rescues Furiosa, but Dementus tracks them down. Mary stays behind to buy time and gives Furiosa a peach pit to remember her by. Furiosa refuses to leave, and Dementus forces her to watch her mother's crucifixion. Dementus, haunted by his family's death, adopts Furiosa, hoping she will lead him to the Green Place.
