В картине рассказывается о борьбе во времена гражданской войны органов контрразведки народно-освободительной армии Китая с гоминьдановскими шпионами и диверсантами. Бои идут уже в пригородах города. Руководитель гоминьдановской разведки Чжан Го-чжун, выполняя распоряжение своего командования, оставляет в городе большую группу диверсантов. Списки этой диверсионной группы он передает остающемуся резиденту крупному торговцу Цуй Си-чжену. В город входят части НОАК и устанавливается народная власть. Но притаившийся враг сразу начинает действовать.

In a storm, Yuchun's ox cart got stuck in the river and Minghua came when she was in distress. She helped her push her ashore, put her straw hat on Yuchun, and went home in the rain. Yuchun knew that Minghua's family was not good, so she carried shoes to Minghua.
