Twenty years after Alien, a Weyland-Yutani probe uncovers a Xenomorph-containing object in the wreckage of the USCSS Nostromo. Rain Carradine, an orphan, works with her adoptive brother, Andy, a reprogrammed synthetic human, at the Jackson's Star colony. When Weyland-Yutani forces Rain to extend her contract, she reluctantly agrees to join her ex-boyfriend Tyler on a mission to retrieve cryostasis chambers from a derelict spacecraft. The mission team includes Tyler, his pregnant sister Kay, cousin Bjorn, and Bjorn's girlfriend Navarro, with Andy's ability to interface with the ship's systems being vital. As they explore the ship, which is divided into sections named Romulus and Remus, the group accidentally triggers a lockdown by reviving frozen facehuggers. Rain installs a chip from a damaged android, Rook, into Andy to override the lockdown, enhancing his abilities but unknowingly altering his loyalty to serve only Weyland-Yutani.
