
Vienna Symphony
2021In 1900, Ferdinand Löwe founded the orchestra as the Wiener Concertverein (Vienna Concert Society). In 1913 it moved into the Konzerthaus, Vienna. In 1919 it merged with the Tonkünstler Orchestra. In 1933 it acquired its current name.
It's current principal conductor is Andrés Orozco-Estrada.

Ballet authority John Lanchbery, former music director of the Sadler's Wells and Royal Ballet companies, as well as of American Ballet Theatre and Australian Ballet, conducts the Vienna Symphony Orchestra in Tchaikovsky's enchanting score.

The program features Franz von Suppé's "Overture: Poet and Peasant," Joseph Strauss's "Village Swallows from Austria," Johann Strauss's "Intermezzo from the operetta and more," Antonin Dvorák's "Three Slavonic Dances" and works by Karl Millöcker and Karl Zeller.
