Christopher John Weitz (born November 30, 1969) is an American film director, screenwriter, producer, and actor. He is best known for his collaborations with his brother Paul on the comedies American Pie and About a Boy, the latter of which earned them an Academy Award nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay. Weitz has also directed the film adaptations of The Golden Compass and New Moon from the Twilight series, written the screenplay for Disney's 2015 live-action Cinderella, and co-written Rogue One with Tony Gilroy.

Born in New York City to actress Susan Kohner and novelist/designer John Weitz, he is the brother of filmmaker Paul Weitz. His maternal grandparents include agent Paul Kohner and actress Lupita Tovar, who starred in Mexico's first talkie. Weitz was raised in a nonreligious household with Jewish and Catholic influences and attended Allen-Stevenson School and St. Paul's School in London. He graduated with an English degree from Trinity College, Cambridge.

Weitz is married to Mercedes Martinez, a Cuban Mexican, and they have two children, Sebastian and Athena. He has invested in a Japanese restaurant in Los Angeles. Following Donald Trump's 2016 election win, Weitz tweeted a controversial statement about the Star Wars franchise, which led to backlash from some Trump supporters.
