Allan Edwall
1924 - 1997Growing up in the landscape of Jämtland, Edwall spent some time working on a ship before he arrived in Stockholm in the 1940s, just barely making a living as a writer, painter and poet before he was admitted to the Royal Dramatic Theater's acting school in 1949. After graduation he worked at the theater in the 1950s and 1960s but he was mainly a jack-of-all-trades, appearing on the stage, in movies as well as recording and publishing his own songs.
He is remembered for a string of queer roles, such as Emil's father in the Emil of Lönneberga films, the cheerful vagabond in the Rasmus and the vagabond movie, the dying father in Ingmar Bergman's Fanny and Alexander as well as Carlsson in the TV adaptation of Strindberg's Hemsöborna.
In the later part of his life he owned his own theater, Brunnsgatan 4, in Stockholm. Biography by Mattias Thuresson.

Emil Svensson lives with his mother and father, little sister Ida, farmhand Alfred, and maid Lina on a picturesque farm in Småland. He is an unusually lively little boy, who just can't resist trying out every whim that enters into his white-haired head. Always with the best intentions in mind, because he is a good-hearted child, but often with catastrophic results, especially for his short-tempered father. As a result, Emil spends a lot of quality time in the wood shed carving wood figurines and waiting for Anton's temper to cool down. And the father's patience is certainly tried, as Emil gets his head stuck in the family's only soup bowl, hoists little Ida up the flag pole, and arranges a lavish Christmas party for the poor.

She however can resist him and things get even turned around when Don Juan falls in love with her. The fact that he feels love for the first time now, makes him even less attractive to her and Don Juan returns to hell.
