Jeevanandhan meets Mini in a book shop and their eyes meet leading to sparks of love in their hearts. Mini has a loving mother and three brothers, James, Thomas and Stephen and she is the apple of their eye. Mini is hesitant to reciprocate her love for Jeeva who steadily makes an inroad into her heart, the love affair incensing her family members who give him a thrashing each time he meets her. Jeeva's parents are under the impression that their son is pursuing his MBA studies until his father receives an SOS from Jeeva, injured in one such beatings. His father Chandrasekhar is stunned by the developments and Jeeva's mother is also shocked. Jeeva refuses to part company with Mini when his father arrives with his henchmen to take him back.

Karaikkal Ammaiyar is a 1973 Indian Tamil Saiva mythological film, written and directed by A. P. Nagarajan and produced by EVR Films. The film's soundtrack was composed by Kunnakudi Vaidyanathan. The film stars Lakshmi, who played the younger-age Punithavathi role, and K. B. Sundarambal, who played the old-age role—as the title characters, with R. Muthuraman, Manorama, Suruli Rajan, V. S. Raghavan, S. V. Sahasranamam, Sivakumar and Srividya playing supporting roles. Karaikkal Ammaiyar is one of the three women saints among the 63 Nayanmars and is considered one of the greatest figure of Tamil literature. She was born in Karaikkal during the Chola period, a maritime center. Ammaiyar was a great devotee of Lord Shiva and she is believed to have lived during the 6th century, named Punithavathi.

Shankar is a lawyer and a man with a heart of gold. One of his clients entrusts huge amount of money to him, which gets stolen before he deposits it in the court. When his attempts to borrow money fails, accidentally a boxful of money and jewels reach his home. He rejoices and replaces his client's money with this against his wife Vijaya's will, but he tells her that there is no other alternative. Everything seems to be going hunky-dory until Manikam, a taxi driver, starts blackmailing him. Shankar's daughter Raji is upset that her father is harassed. She tries to seek the help of police. The owner of the box found to be father-in-law of Shankar's brother. Vijaya confesses about the box to him without Shankar's knowledge. When Shankar finds out about this, he thinks everything is finished. The police arrest him for killing Manikam. Worse still, Shankar's daughter Raji, who is the sole witness to the murder, becomes speechless due to shock. Rest of story is solving mystery.
