Zinaida Brumberg
1900 - 1983Одна из сестёр (младшая) Брумберг — творческого тандема, создававшего каноны советской мультипликации.
Родилась 2 августа 1900 года, день в день со старшей сестрой Валентиной, которой исполнился год.
По окончании в 1925 году Вхутемаса участвовала в создании первых советских мультфильмов («Китай в огне»). Работу в мультипликации начинала художником-мультипликатором, затем перешла в режиссуру. Вместе с Валентиной Брумберг создала такие фильмы, как «Красная шапочка», «Кот в сапогах», «Пропавшая грамота», «Три толстяка» и многие другие.
Одной из наиболее известных работ является мультфильм «Федя Зайцев» (1949), где среди квазиреалистических, квазиобъёмных фигур заметное место занимает элементарный — «палка-палка-огуречик» — человечек, нарисованный на школьной стене пионером Федей. В начале шестидесятых с помощью этого человечка сёстры Брумберг взорвали[неизвестный термин] устоявшийся канон советской мультипликации, в создании которого участвовали они сами.

It is a satirical film for adults about family, the father is an embezzler, the daughter is a hunter for favorable gentlemen, and the son is a blockhead and a drunkard. The offscreen text is the story of the little girl who repeats idiomatic expressions which she doesn’t understand ("he has set going the refrigerators ", "he whips vodka", "he has lost his head"...) and these idiomatic expressions are shown in as they are represented in her mind – in the literal sense. It is one of the first films of "new", "non-Disney" Soviet animation.

The Lost Letter (Russian: Пропа́вшая гра́мота, Propavshaya gramota), or A Disappeared Diploma, is a 1945 Soviet animated film directed by the Brumberg sisters and Lamis Bredis. It is the first Soviet cel-animated feature film. It was produced at the Soyuzmultfilm studio in Moscow and is based on the story with the same name by Nikolai Gogol.

The story is about three sisters. The youngest is chosen by Tsar Saltan to be his wife. He orders the other two sisters to be his royal cook and weaver. They become jealous of their younger sister. When the tsar goes off to war, the tsaritsa gives birth to a son, Prince Gvidon (Gvidón.) The older sisters arrange to have the tsaritsa and the child sealed in a barrel and thrown into the sea. The sea takes pity on them and casts them on the shore of a remote island, Buyan. The son, having quickly grown while in the barrel, goes hunting. He ends up saving an enchanted swan from a kite bird. The swan creates a city for Prince Gvidon to rule, but he is homesick, so the swan turns him into a mosquito to help him. In this guise, he visits Tsar Saltan's court, where he stings his aunt in the eye and escapes. Back in his realm, the swan gives Gvidon a magical squirrel. But he continues to pine for home, so the swan transforms him again, this time into a fly.
