Kannan's (Karthik) ambition in life is to take up the construction of the temple left incomplete by his forefathers. Funds are not forthcoming. Goundamani assures him that with his employer's help Kannan's dream could become a reality. But Goundamani is disappointed when his employer, the wealthy landlady's (Manorama) grandson Raghu (Ranjith) turns out to be money minded and heartless. In a fit of anger, Goundamani pushes him into the waters of a river and thinks he has committed a murder. Predictably Kannan is made to enter the scene as an impostor. What follows next forms the crux of the story.

Nandu comes across beautiful Gayatri played by Navya Nair and plots to win her love by blackmailing. Whether or not he succeeded in this endeavor is what the story is about.

The music of Anandha Thollai has been composed by Ali Mirsa who was earlier an assistant of AR Rahman. Lyricists for this movie are Viveka, Kalai Kumar, Sarathi and Dhiraviyan. The editing department is headed by Udaya Shankar and camera has been handled by David. Anandha Thollai is to be released in the month of November.

Kunju Gounder is a respected village chief, he seeks his missed son. Panju Gounder, worked as a servant in Kunju Gounder's house and married his sister. Now, Panju Gounder tries hard to be respected by the villagers. Raja and his friend are fraud. Raja attempts to make himself out to be Kunju Gounder's son and falls in love with Kunju Gounder's daughter Sinthamani. What transpires later forms the crux of the story.
