Alia Martine Shawkat (born April 18, 1989) is an American actress, best known for playing Maeby Fünke in the sitcom Arrested Development (2003–2006, 2013–2019) and Dory Sief in the dark comedy series Search Party (2016–2022). She has also appeared in the horror-comedy film The Final Girls (2015) and had roles in State of Grace and The Old Man. Shawkat has guest-starred on Drunk History, portraying historical figures like Frances Cleveland, Virginia Hall, and Alexander Hamilton.

Born in Riverside, California, Shawkat is the daughter of Dina and Tony Shawkat, a strip club owner. She grew up in Palm Springs and has two brothers. Her father is originally from Baghdad, Iraq, and her mother is American. Her maternal grandfather was actor Paul Burke.

Outside of acting, Shawkat enjoys singing, drawing, and painting. She sometimes performs jazz standards in bars, with many songs learned from her grandfather. Shawkat once explored welding to create metal sculptures, emphasizing the importance of pursuing different artistic outlets to complement her acting. She identifies as bisexual and, in 2023, welcomed a son.
