Roger Craig Zobel is an American director and actor known for his work in music videos, films, and television. He has directed films such as Compliance (2012), Z for Zachariah (2015), and The Hunt (2020). In television, his work includes directing episodes for shows like The Leftovers, American Gods, and Westworld. He also gained recognition for directing the acclaimed HBO miniseries Mare of Easttown in 2021.

Zobel was born in New York and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. He studied filmmaking at the North Carolina School of the Arts alongside David Gordon Green and other future collaborators. After graduating, Zobel contributed to Green's early films, such as George Washington (2000), All the Real Girls (2003), and Undertow (2003), taking on roles like co-producer, production manager, and second unit director.

He co-created the popular online animated series Homestar Runner with Mike and Matt Chapman (The Brothers Chaps). The concept originated from a parody of children's books that Zobel and Mike Chapman developed during the summer of 1996, which later evolved into an animated series.

Zobel has continued to build a notable career in film and television, renewing a deal with HBO for three more years after the success of Mare of Easttown. One of his films, The Hunt (2020), initially scheduled for release in 2019, was postponed due to the 2019 El Paso shooting and was later released in March 2020.
