Julien Maury
1978 (46 лет)Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo are French filmmakers. The two are known for working on their projects together, with both men co-directing and Bustillo writing the script. They list their influences as Dario Argento, Roman Polanski, Clive Barker and John Carpenter. Their first film was Inside, a controversial horror film about a pregnant woman stalked by a madwoman who wants her child for herself. The film was cited as an example of the new wave of French horror films and was a critical success that brought international attention on Maury and Bustillo.
After the success of Inside, Maury and Bustillo were attached to at separate times to Halloween II, the sequel to Rob Zombie's remake of John Carpenter's Halloween as well as the remake for Clive Barker's Hellraiser. In both cases, they left the project. Says Maury, "We decided not to go to the United States to do a remake or a PG-13 movie; we want to do original things." Their current project Livid is set for release in 2011. The two are also set to do a segment on Paris, I'll Kill You, a horror film anthology set in Paris, France. Surrealistic Nightmares: An In-depth Look at Walloon Horror Cinema
Steve De Roover
Guillermo del Toro, Pascal Laugier
After researching the Flemish horror cinema in "Forgotten Scares", director Steve De Roover - with the help of co-director Jérôme Vandewattyne (Spit'N'Split) - digs deeper in the follow-up documentary "Surrealistic Nightmares" and shows the beginning of Walloon horror cinema in the '20s (!) and how the genre evolved during the following years. Through unique experiences from the original cast and crew, horror experts and various genre journalists, a broad and in-depth picture is painted about the one-of-a-kind horror legacy from the French side of Belgium, without forgetting the difficult cinema landscape of this small country with two very different languages. "Surrealistic Nightmares: An In-depth Look at Walloon Horror Cinema" is illustrated by exclusive behind the scene footage, famous film scenes and loads of original promotional artwork.

X is for Xylophone
Alexandre Bustillo, Julien Maury
Béatrice Dalle, Tess Maury
Oh. My. Goodness. They really saved some of the best for last. Xylophone has the badass Beatrice Dalle (a.k.a the psycho bitch from Inside) as a babysitter who just can't handle the annoying way her charge plays the xylophone while she's trying to listen to some nice, classical music. The ending is so unbelievably graphic and horrible that you wonder how they got away with it, but you are so glad they did. Would I sound completely horrible if I said I laughed a lot at this segment too? Whatever, I did. It was awesome.
