Alexandra Elizabeth Kingston (born March 11, 1963) is an English actress known for her roles in British and American television since the early 1980s. She gained fame for her portrayal of Dr. Elizabeth Corday in the NBC medical drama ER (1997–2004) and starred in the ITV miniseries The Fortunes and Misfortunes of Moll Flanders (1996), earning a BAFTA nomination for Best Actress.

Her notable later roles include River Song in Doctor Who (2008–2015), Mrs. Bennet in Lost in Austen (2008), Dinah Lance in Arrow (2013–2016), and Sarah Bishop in A Discovery of Witches (2018–2022).

Born in Epsom, Surrey, to an English butcher and a German mother, Kingston's family background includes Jewish ancestry. Inspired by a teacher, she pursued acting, performing in school productions before training at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and joining the Royal Shakespeare Company.

Kingston was in a long-term relationship with actor Ralph Fiennes, marrying him in 1993, but they divorced in 1997 after his affair with Francesca Annis. She later married German writer Florian Haertel in 1998, with whom she has a daughter, but they separated in 2009 and divorced in 2013. In 2015, she married television producer Jonathan Stamp in Italy.

Kingston has lived in the US and returned to the UK in 2019.
