Kevin McKidd, born on 9 August 1973 in Elgin, Moray, Scotland, is a Scottish actor and television director, best known for his role as Dr. Owen Hunt on Grey's Anatomy. Before that, he gained recognition as Tommy Mackenzie in Trainspotting (1996). McKidd's other notable roles include Lucius Vorenus in Rome (2005–2007), Count Vronsky in the BBC miniseries Anna Karenina (2000), and Poseidon in Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief. He also voiced John "Soap" MacTavish in the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare video games.

McKidd grew up in Elgin, attending Seafield Primary School and Elgin Academy, and was involved in local theater. Initially planning to study engineering, he switched to drama at Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh.

He married Jane Parker in 1999, with whom he has two children. They divorced in 2017. McKidd later married Arielle Goldrath in 2018, and they have two children. The couple separated in 2022, and their divorce was finalized in 2023.

In 2013, McKidd served as Grand Marshal for New York City's Tartan Day Parade and expressed support for Scottish independence, despite being unable to vote in the 2014 referendum due to living in the U.S.
