Darren Doane
2021Prior to directing commercials and music videos, Darren also directed two live action short film adaptations of the Malibu Comics superheroes Hardcase (a four minute music video style promo starring British kickboxer Gary Daniels) and Firearm (a 35 minute long movie which served as a prequel to the actual comic, and came as a VHS packaged alongside specially ordered copies of the comic's #0). In fact, in Hardcase #1 there's a single panel in-joke referencing a "D. Doane" as being the director of "Hardcase: The Movie."

Collision

Douglas Wilson, Christopher Hitchens
COLLISION carves a new path in documentary film-making as it pits leading atheist, political journalist and bestselling author Christopher Hitchens against fellow author, satirist and evangelical theologian Douglas Wilson, as they go on the road to exchange blows over the question: "Is Christianity Good for the World?". The two contrarians laugh, confide and argue, in public and in private, as they journey through three cities. And the film captures it all. The result is a magnetic conflict, a character-driven narrative that sparkles cinematically with a perfect match of arresting personalities and intellectual rivalry. COLLISION is directed by prolific independent filmmaker Darren Doane (Van Morrison: Astral Weeks Live at the Hollywood Bowl, The Battle For L.A., Godmoney).

The Battle for L.A.
Darren Doane
Filmmaker Darren Doane ("42K") and a camera, hit the streets of L.A. in an almost guerilla-like fashion and interviews a number of DJs, rappers and dancers. Not only do they give their take on what hip-hop is, what it represents on a personal and social level, but he also attends what is termed "battles" between rappers. While such battles are known to get aggressive from time to time, it is often a way for people to blow off some steam, express themselves, strut their stuff and compete.

James Jude Courtney, Joe Hulser
Private investigator Alec Swan, against his own wishes, becomes embroiled in a case involving the strange and the ultra-human. The first movie that's faithful to the comic book... because it IS the comic book! This VHS film was bundled with Malibu Comics' Firearm #0, part of its Ultraverse line.

The Free Speech Apocalypse

Douglas Wilson
Pastor Douglas Wilson was invited to Indiana University to deliver a series of lectures on traditional marriage and family. Wilson was warned about possible protests and potential violence over his "dissenting" opinion but stood behind the lectern anyway. The Free Speech Apocalypse documents the intensity that ensued on April 13, 2012, when a group of Midwest college students decided that Wilson's traditional views are now to be considered "hate speech" and that hurling insults, profanity, and disrupting his attempt to rationally present his views was acceptable. Darren Doane, director of the ground-breaking documentary, Collision, and box-office smash-hit Unstoppable, returns with his most bold, uncensored, and provocative film to date.
