Kim Sang-man

Kim Sang-man (born January 28, 1970) is a South Korean filmmaker, known for his work as both a director and art director. He started his career designing movie posters in 1997 with The Contact, and after working on about 30 films, he became the art director for If the Sun Rises in the West (1998). His career highlight as an art director came with his work on the acclaimed film Joint Security Area in 2000.

Alongside his film career, Kim explored music by joining a band as a bassist and producing music under an independent label. His involvement in music led him to hold dual roles as both art director and music director on the 2006 film Bloody Tie. Kim made his directorial debut with the crime-comedy Girl Scout in 2008, which was received positively. He followed up with his second film, the 2010 thriller Midnight FM, and reunited with actor Yoo Ji-tae for The Tenor – Lirico Spinto (2014), a biopic of South Korean tenor Bae Jae-chul.
